A large-scale water sector development project is ongoing in Ajara.
Jaba Putkaradze, the Minister of Finance and Economy of Ajara, held a meeting with the
representatives of MACS and FICHTNER, the consultants of Rural Ajara Water Supply and Wastewater
Treatment Programme. During the meeting, the programme consultants talked about the progress of
the project.
At this stage, an international tender is underway for the rehabilitation of communal
infrastructure in Ajara dabas and villages.
An international tender has been announced for the creation of modern standard water supply
systems in the dabas and villages of different municipalities of Ajara. Construction works in
these areas will commence this year after the construction company is revealed.
The budget of the water supply systems development project in Ajara is 59.5 million euros.
The project is implemented in the framework of the German-Georgian Cooperation, with the
cooperation of KfW and the European Union.
